What are OTR wheels?

OTR wheels refer to specialized wheels used for off-highway heavy-duty machinery, including rims, hubs , and related mounting structures.

They are specifically designed for mines, construction sites, ports, forestry, agriculture, and other harsh ground environments.

In simple terms, OTR wheels are heavy-duty specialized wheels used on construction machinery and mining vehicles. Due to the extremely harsh working environment of OTR tires and machinery, OTR wheels also have special requirements:

1. Bearing extremely high weight : OTR vehicles are typically very heavy, with a single wheel potentially bearing several to tens of tons.

2. Adaptable to harsh working conditions : The wheels must be able to withstand harsh working conditions such as impact, vibration, heavy load, corner impact, and tire pressure compression.

3. Ensure safe tire installation and sealing : Through a one-piece or multi-piece structure, the tire is securely fixed and sealed, and easy to install and remove.

Depending on the vehicle and tire size, OTR wheels are generally divided into: one-piece wheels and multi-piece wheels ( including 3-piece, 4-piece, and 5-piece wheels, etc. ) .

One-piece wheels have a simple structure and low load capacity , and are commonly used in small agricultural machinery , skid steer loaders, forklifts, etc.

Multi-piece wheels offer superior load-bearing capacity , are detachable, and facilitate tire installation. They are suitable for medium to large loaders, graders, mining trucks, etc.

OTR wheels must be made of high-strength steel to withstand extreme vertical loads and high impacts on rough terrain. Their strength and rigidity far exceed those of road vehicle rims.
